Why Inland Empire Homeowners Remodel Their Stairs

Carpet stairs wear out faster than any other surface in your home โ€” and they're the first thing guests see. Wood treads transform your entryway and last decades longer.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Safer, More Solid Footing

Loose carpet staples and worn pile create trip hazards. Properly installed bullnose wood treads grip the stringer securely and give a consistent, safe step every time.

โœจ

Instant Entryway Upgrade

Stairs are the focal point of most two-story homes. Natural wood treads with painted or stained risers create a luxury look that lasts 20+ years with minimal maintenance.

๐Ÿงน

Far Easier to Clean

Carpet stairs trap pet hair, dust, and allergens. Wood and LVP treads wipe clean in seconds โ€” no shampooing, no deep cleaning, no replacing every 5โ€“7 years.

โšก

1โ€“2 Day Turnaround

Most staircase remodels (13โ€“16 steps) are fully done in one to two days. We work around your schedule and clean up completely before we leave.

Stair Remodels Across the Inland Empire

We remodel staircases throughout San Bernardino and Riverside counties โ€” single-story landings to full two-story staircases.

Many homeowners replace carpet stairs at the same time as their downstairs floor โ€” we match the treads to your new laminate, engineered wood, or SPC exactly so the whole project looks unified.

Replacing the Whole Floor Too?

Stair Remodel FAQ

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most.

Do you do stairs only, or the whole floor too?

Both. We do standalone stair remodels and combined projects โ€” new flooring downstairs plus matching treads on the stairs in the same visit. Many homeowners do both at once for a unified look and one cleanup.

What material is best for stair treads in the Inland Empire?

Solid hardwood (oak, maple) is most popular for a classic look and durability. LVP/SPC treads are great if you have LVP downstairs. We don't recommend standard laminate for treads โ€” edges chip and it's not rated for stair use.

Can you put LVP on stairs?

Yes โ€” we use stair-specific LVP treads with a bullnose edge profile, not standard click-lock planks. These are thicker, have a rounded front edge for safety, and are designed for stair impact.

How long does a stair remodel take?

Most staircase projects (13โ€“16 steps) take 1 full day. Larger or more complex staircases may take 2 days. We give you an exact timeline during the estimate based on your specific staircase.

What's the difference between capped and open riser stairs?

Capped stairs have both the tread and vertical riser covered โ€” clean, finished look. Open riser stairs have no vertical riser board โ€” the gap between steps is open. We do both styles and can show examples during the estimate.

How much does stair remodeling cost in the Inland Empire?

Most residential staircase remodels run $800โ€“$2,500 for a 12โ€“16 step staircase, depending on material and riser treatment. We give you a written price per project โ€” not per step โ€” after seeing your staircase in person.
